How does Maatiam work?
When you shop through Maatiam’s network of retailers, Maatiam is paid a commission. We pass through the listed commission to the nonprofit organizations of your choice. Outside the listed percentages, we retain a smaller portion (typically 1/3) of retailer commissions to fund our development, operation, and growth. For example, we donate 7% and retain 3% of the total 10% commission received from Drugstore.com.

Do I get a tax deduction?
No. The IRS limits tax deductibility for donations to the amount paid over and above the fair market price for an item. Since the prices you pay when buying from our retailer partners through our site are the same as if you purchased directly from the merchant, no tax-deductible event occurs. But hey, you are helping your nonprofit with just a few clicks, for free.
